Med-Surg & ICU

At Perry County Memorial Hospital, our Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) teams provide compassionate, expert care for patients of all ages who require hospitalization. Whether a patient is recovering from surgery, managing an illness, or facing a critical health condition, our staff is dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care close to home.

Medical-Surgical Unit (Med-Surg)

Our Med-Surg unit serves as the foundation of inpatient care at PCMH. Patients here may be recovering from surgery, receiving treatment for illness or injury, or transitioning from higher levels of care. In this unit, our patients receive:

  • 24/7 nursing support with an emphasis on safety and comfort
  • Post-surgical care, including wound care, IV therapy, and pain management
  • Support from respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and other specialists as needed
  • Education and discharge planning to ensure a smooth recovery at home

Our nurses typically care for a small number of patients at a time, allowing them to provide attentive, individualized care and build strong connections with patients and families.

Hospitalists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anytime you need to talk to someone about your care, a hospitalist will be on-hand to answer your questions. They are also familiar with the many medical specialists working in the hospital and can coordinate your care with them to ensure you are getting the best treatment possible.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

For patients with serious or life-threatening conditions, our ICU provides specialized, around-the-clock monitoring and advanced medical support. Staffed by highly trained critical care nurses and providers, our ICU offers:

  • Advanced monitoring technology for close observation
  • Ventilator support and respiratory therapy services
  • Rapid response interventions for critical conditions
  • A focus on clear communication with families during difficult times

Visiting & Family Support

We understand how important loved ones are to the healing process. PCMH maintains flexible visiting hours to allow families to be present with patients, while also ensuring quiet time for rest and recovery. Our care teams provide regular updates and encourage families to be part of the care planning process whenever possible.

Both our Med-Surg and ICU teams are committed to delivering compassionate, patientcentered care that helps individuals heal and return to their daily lives as safely and quickly as possible.
