The nurses in the ED have various combinations of certifications in:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Trauma (TNCC and/or TCAR)
  • Pediatric Trauma (PCAR)
  • Forensic Nursing (SANE)
  • Ultrasound Guided IV Insertion

Ancillary services such as an on-site laboratory, full-service imaging (x-ray, CT, ultrasound),
and Respiratory Therapy are readily available twenty-four hours a day to assist in
diagnosing problems and continuing care. Social Services staff are available to assist with
the needs of patients beyond their visit to the ED. Through our partnership with Deaconess,
patients presenting with mental/behavioral health needs or crises have the ability for
professional psychiatric assessment via telemedicine with the trained mental health
professionals of the Care Team at Deaconess Crosspointe when considered appropriate by
the ED physician.

Charles Hargis, M.D., a Southern Indiana native, serves as the Medical Director of the
Emergency Department leading our group of physicians, staffed through Concord Medical
Group in providing superior patient care to our community.

If an admission is needed, PCMH can continue providing exceptional care on the medicalsurgical unit or in our ICU with hospitalist oversight but if you are in need of care or
specialists that surpass our capabilities, the team in the ER will coordinate with various
other hospitals in the area to arrange a transfer that is appropriate to meet your needs and
assuring your care is continued beyond our doors.

We are committed to providing you with the care you need when you need it most; right
here, close to home.
