January Is National Blood Donor Month: How You Can Make a Lifesaving Difference with PCMH
- Posted On:

January is recognized as National Blood Donor Month, a time to raise awareness about the ongoing need for blood donations and to thank the generous individuals who roll up their sleeves to help save lives. Winter months often bring a decline in donations due to illness, weather, and busy schedules, yet the need for blood remains constant. Donated blood is essential for patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, trauma care, chronic illness management, and so much more.
At Perry County Memorial Hospital (PCMH), we are proud to support our community’s blood supply through convenient blood draws, hosting blood drives, and partnering with the American Red Cross to help ensure blood products are available for patients when they are needed most.
Blood Draw Services at PCMH
PCMH offers comprehensive laboratory blood draw services for patients who need routine or physician-ordered lab work.
These services support:
- Chronic condition monitoring
- Pre-operative testing
- General wellness labs
- Diagnostic testing ordered by your provider
Our caring lab professionals are committed to making the experience as comfortable and efficient as possible. If you have an order from your provider, our team is here to help you complete your lab testing close to home.
PCMH-Hosted Blood Drives
As part of our mission to care for the health of our community, PCMH regularly hosts blood drives on campus throughout the year. These events allow residents to donate blood in a familiar, convenient setting while directly supporting regional hospitals and patients in need.
During National Blood Donor Month and beyond, we encourage community members who are eligible to participate in upcoming blood drives. Every donation can help save up to three lives.
Our Partnership with the American Red Cross
PCMH is honored to partner with the American Red Cross, one of the nation’s leading blood collection organizations.
Through this partnership:
- The Red Cross safely collects and processes donations
- Blood products are tested and distributed to hospitals
- Education and awareness are provided to donors and communities
Together, we help ensure a stable and reliable blood supply for patients locally and across the region.
You Can Make an Impact
During National Blood Donor Month, we invite you to:
- Consider donating blood at a PCMH-hosted drive
- Encourage friends and family to learn about donation
- Thank a donor you know
- Talk to your provider if you have questions about donating after an illness or procedure
Whether you donate, volunteer, or help spread the word, your support truly matters.
