Celebrating National Senior Health G Fitness Day with Perry County Memorial Hospital

Each year on the last Wednesday in May, communities across the country come together to recognize National Senior Health C Fitness Day—a celebration of health, wellness, and active living for older adults. At Perry County Memorial Hospital (PCMH), we’re proud to stand alongside our seniors, offering support and services that help them stay strong, independent, and engaged at every stage of life.

Why Senior Health Matters

As we age, maintaining physical health becomes increasingly important for independence, quality of life, and mental well-being. Regular physical activity, routine checkups, preventive screenings, and social engagement all play critical roles in healthy aging.
National Senior Health C Fitness Day reminds us how vital these components are—not just today, but all year long.

How PCMH Supports Senior Health

At PCMH, our mission is to provide exceptional, compassionate care to every generation— including the older adults who’ve helped shape our community. Here are some of the ways we’re supporting senior health and fitness:

Primary Care Services

Our trusted primary care providers partner with seniors to manage chronic conditions, monitor medications, and support overall wellness through individualized care plans.

Behavioral Health Services

Mental health is just as important as physical health. PCMH offers behavioral health support, including therapy and medication management, and Renewed Horizons, a geriatric psychiatric service focused on the unique emotional and psychological needs of older adults.

Rehabilitation Services

From post-surgery recovery to chronic pain management, our physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs are tailored to help seniors maintain strength, balance, and independence.

Home Health Care

For those who need medical support in the comfort of their own home, PCMH Home Health offers skilled nursing, therapy, and personal care services designed to promote healing and autonomy.

Specialist Referrals and Support

We connect our patients with specialists in cardiology, general surgery, and women’s health—many of whom are available right here at PCMH, eliminating the need for long-distance travel.

Preventive Screenings and Wellness

We help seniors stay ahead of potential health issues with regular screenings, lab work, immunizations, and wellness visits. Prevention is key to a longer, healthier life.

Encouraging Movement and Connection

Staying active doesn’t have to mean running marathons. Walking, gardening, chair exercises, or joining a local senior fitness group can all make a big difference. Physical activity, paired with meaningful social interaction, helps reduce the risk of depression, dementia, and chronic disease.

This National Senior Health C Fitness Day, we encourage all seniors—and the loved ones who support them—to take a step toward better health. Whether it’s scheduling a checkup, trying a new physical activity, or simply taking a walk with a friend, small changes can lead to big benefits.

Thank You, Seniors

To the seniors in our community: thank you for your wisdom, resilience, and contributions.
We are honored to be part of your health journey.
