TELL CITY, INDIANA – The National Certification of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) announced that Linda Mathena, RN, ONC, CDE of Perry County Memorial Hospital has renewed the Certified Diabetes Educator® (CDE®) status by successfully completing the continuing education renewal option process. Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be eligible for certification. Achieving the CDE® credential demonstrates to people with diabetes and employers that the health care professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes.
Linda has been a registered nurse for 52 years. She is a caring and dedicated individual that has made an incredible difference at Perry County Memorial Hospital. Linda began her career at PCMH in 1976. She has a vast and diverse nursing background which includes obstetrics, medical surgical and pediatrics. Linda also worked in intensive care for 20 years, oncology for 13 years and has been the Certified Diabetes Educator® for the past 12 years. Linda is an asset to Perry County Memorial Hospital and has helped in the development of many programs and departments.
NCBDE was established in 1986 to develop and administer a certification program for health professionals who teach individuals with diabetes how to manage their disease. Perry County Memorial Hospital’s Diabetes Self- Management Education Program includes both a Certified Diabetes Educator® and a dietician. The program is certified by the American Diabetes Association.
