Cancer Treatment Program

Perry County Memorial Hospital has established the Cancer Treatment Program in collaboration with Community Cancer Care, Inc. to provide support for cancer and hematology patients - and the people who care for them – in an environment as close to home as possible.

All services – which include care, education and support – are state of the art, safe, convenient and reflect our commitment to healing.

These services are offered to all cancer and hematology adult and geriatric clients, in the community served by Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Community education covers:

Awareness of cancer risks
Early detection
Prevention of cancer and associated diseases

The RNs working in the Cancer Treatment Center have successfully completed the Cancer Treatment (Oncology) Nurse Training Program sponsored by Community Cancer Care, Inc.

RNs are certified in:

Administration of chemotherapeutic agents
Recognition of signs and symptoms of side effects
Intervention techniques
Comprehension of psycho/social aspects of cancer care

The oncologist will be available on a regular bi-monthly schedule to see patients. When not available in-person, the oncologist will be available by telephone.

The registered nurse will be available daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
